Mississippi reports record casino revenue10 October 2007MISSISSIPPI -- As reported by the Biloxi Sun Herald: "Record casino revenue in Mississippi is bringing more tax money to the state and local governments. "Figures from the Mississippi Gaming Commission show the tax collections in the state for July and August, the first two months of fiscal year 2008, totalled $35.6 million. "...July's gross gaming revenue was an all-time one-month record of $124.7 million in Mississippi, and the tax revenues also soared to a total of $35.4 million in combined contributions to the state general fund, a $3 million sinking fund and transfer to local governments..." |
