Mississippi official criticizes casino stance

PASCAGOULA, Mississippi – As reported by the Mississippi Press: "Jackson County Supervisor Tim Broussard said the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce should not take a stance on the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians casino issue.

"Broussard said he attended an Oct. 18 public hearing in Ocean Springs held by the Choctaws to discuss the environmental impact of the propose casino.

"The Choctaws own 100 acres of land on Miss. 57 near Interstate 10 where they want to build a casino and resort.

"…Broussard said chambers of commerce across the Coast had signed off on a resolution against the proposed Choctaw casino, but it is his opinion that the county does not contribute to the chamber to take a stand against an economic development situation…"
