Mississippi Municipality to See New Casinos16 May 2005GREENVILLE, Mississippi – As reported by the Delta Democrat Times: "After several years of hearing proposals with no action, Greenville-area residents may soon see construction of new gaming developments. "Charles Preiser of Gulfport, president and CEO of Delta Blues Casino LLC, said ground may be broken in early June for the Delta Blues Casino, one of three gaming operations proposed to join the existing Lighthouse Point and Jubilee casinos in Washington County. The others are Bali Hai and Hideaway. "…Because state law doesn't allow municipalities to operate convention centers, an interlocal agreement had to be reached by the city and Washington County. The agreement must be supported by legislation which, in turn, must be signed by the governor. "City officials said Gov. Haley Barbour signed the legislation last month. "With that done, Preiser and his partner, Steve Warner, have reactivated their development team. Within the next two or three weeks, they will meet and start applying for permits from the Levee Board, the city of Greenville and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers…" |
