Mississippi Gaming Board Member Ready for Job

JACKSON, Mississippi – As reported by the Mississippi Sun Herald: "After spending months watching the Mississippi Gaming Commission in action, Robin Robinson has finally joined the board.

"Robinson, a Laurel business executive, was appointed by Gov. Ronnie Musgrove in March to replace longtime commissioner Victor Smith after his term expired Oct. 1. Robinson threw herself into commission business, regularly attending meetings seven months before her appointment became official.

"…Robinson said attending the meetings made a difference when it came time for her to participate in her first meeting last week. For every meeting, commissioners have a binder of documents several inches thick, providing background information on the dozens of issues before them.

"…Robinson, a longtime friend of Musgrove, has been appointed to serve on other boards, but being named as the first woman to serve on the gaming commission caught her by surprise.

"…Robinson said she knows a little bit about gambling, since she attended work-related conferences in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. But she admits she's not a high roller…"
