Mississippi gambling raid busts three

HATTIESBURG, Mississippi -- As reported by the Hattiesburg American: "Super Bowl Sunday tends to produce one of busiest weekends of the year for Vegas oddsmakers.

"As it turned out, the Hattiesburg Police Department had a fairly busy weekend itself.

"Police confiscated about $34,000 and arrested three men on gambling charges Sunday and Monday.

"One man was arrested Sunday at his home, while the other two were taken in a raid Monday morning when officers of the HPD's Crime Suppression Team served a warrant at the Coney Island Cafe on Main Street.

"Police spokesman Synarus Green would not say whether the men arrested were employees of the downtown landmark..."
