Mississippi Casinos Win on Combined Holidays

BILOXI, Mississippi – As reported by the Mississippi Sun Herald: "For South Mississippi casinos and retail businesses, the combination of Valentine's Day and Presidents Day was a winner, ringing slot machines and cash registers.

"'Presidents Day is always a good weekend for us, but Valentine's Day helped make this the best weekend we've had here in quite some time,' said Mary Cracchiolo, a spokesman for Beau Rivage.

"Casino spokesman Rich Westfall of the Isle of Capri said the casino's 367-room hotel was fully booked for the extended weekend.

"…At Treasure Bay Casino, Bernie Burkholder, president and chief executive officer, said gambling revenues were up by a third and the resort's five restaurants had twice the normal amount of customers over the typical weekend…"
