Mississippi Casino Site Plans Delayed

BILOXI, Mississippi – As reported by the Mississippi Sun Herald:"The owners of a Back Bay casino site asked the city Thursday for permission to construct a man-made basin during the first phase of a proposed future development, but the Biloxi Planning Commission delayed a vote.

"Commissioners sent the application to a subcommittee because of unanswered questions related to parking needs, drainage and engineering issues.

"In 2001, Back Bay Investments acquired the site from another casino speculator who in 1995 had obtained permission from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to float a gambling barge in a man-made basin. The permit has been periodically renewed since 1995; the latest extension expires in December.
