Mississippi Casino Site Approved28 October 2005MISSISSIPPI – As reported by the Mississippi Clarion Ledger: "The Mississippi Gaming Commission approved on Thursday the site of the proposed Back Bay Beach Resort & Casino in Biloxi. "The $150 million development, which would sit on 40 acres a half-mile east of Boomtown casino on Back Bay Boulevard, would include a casino with 1,500 slot machines and 50 table games, a 300-room hotel with conference center, spa, pool and beach and five-story parking garage, said Christopher A. Ferrara of Holden, La., who owns the property. "The development would employ about 1,000 workers, he said. "Ferrara, president and chief executive officer of Ferrara Fire Apparatus Inc., said he plans to return to the Gaming Commission within six months to seek approval of the development plans. He estimates the casino would open in the next 2 1/2 years. "…Tom Vaughn of Biloxi, attorney for the proposed casino, said the project was initiated when casinos had to float in a body of water, but, since the Legislature changed the law last month, the casino will be built on land…" |
