Mississippi Casino Revenues Up

GULFPORT, Mississippi – As reported by the Biloxi Sun Herald: "Local governments with legalized gambling and the state of Mississippi collected more than $29.9 million in casino taxes during January, a month when the industry experienced a 10 percent increase in gross revenues.

"Most of the growth occurred in the Mississippi River counties, which reported a 13.2 percent increase. Revenues on the Coast increased by 6.5 percent.

"Rick Quinn, chief executive officer of the Copa Casino, said industry investments are spurring the increased business.

"…New slot games are making their debut in Mississippi much quicker than in the past, Quinn said, which makes the state's casinos more competitive with other jurisdictions…"
