Mississippi casino numbers up17 August 2007BILOXI, Mississippi -- As reported by the Biloxi Sun Herald: "Casino revenues were rocking and rolling to record highs in July after the opening of Hard Rock Casino. "Numbers released Thursday by the State Tax Commission show gross gaming revenues for the Coast casinos soared more than 9 percent, from $107.7 million in June to $122.4 million in July. This bettered the former single-month record of $118.8 million in January 2005. "...Totals also jumped in the river counties, from $128 million in June to nearly $144 million. This rise came after dipping $7.5 million in June, and it pushed the state revenues to $266.2 million, just shy of the all-time record of $266.3 million in July 2002. "...The eight Biloxi casinos generated $97.3 million of the $122.4 million earned by the 11 Coast casinos..." |
