Mississippi Casino Environmental Survey Done

D'IBERVILLE, Mississippi – As reported by the Mississippi Sun Herald: "An environmental impact statement for the Royal D'Iberville Hotel and Casino has been completed, and the favorable results mean a casino could open in D'Iberville within two years.

"The statement, which is more than 1,100 pages and took three years for the Army Corps of Engineers to complete, found that in every case except one, a casino development will have no impact or a minimum adverse impact on the environment. Under the category of social and economic impact, the report found a casino would have beneficial effects.

"…Now that the EIS has been issued, D'Iberville Mayor Rusty Quave said a permit for the casino project should be issued soon by the corps in Mobile. The Jacobs family of Cleveland will soon buy the 9.42-acre casino site, in preparation for building a $150 million casino resort complex, which will have a 500-room hotel and a 100,000-square-foot gambling barge…"
