Mississippi Board to Decide on Casino Education18 March 2004MISSISSIPPI – As reported by the Clarion-Ledger: "The state College Board is expected to decide today whether to request an attorney general's opinion on the University of Southern Mississippi offering a casino-related degree program. "…Board member Bill Crawford said he has concerns about the liability of board members if they take action and later find they are contradicting the law. "A 1997 attorney general's opinion says a public school or college cannot teach or train people to work in a position specific to the gaming industry, such as a blackjack dealer, a slot machine mechanic, a casino manager or supervisor, or a manufacturer or repairer of equipment…" |
