Mississippi bill proposes to collect tax on small winnings6 February 2013MISSISSIPPI -- Mississippi apparently already has a 3-per-cent winnings tax in place, but winnings under $1200 are left up to the honestly of the gambler to report, according to The Clarion Ledger. That could all change under Joey Fillingane's bill SB2144, which proposes to go after the tax that's legally already in place, the report explained. Fillingane estimates the state is missing out on $500 million in taxes which could help its infrastructure and transportation needs, The Clarion Ledger report said. |
