Mississippi Approves Casino Degree

MISSISSIPPI – As reported by the Mississippi Sun Herald: "The state College Board on Thursday approved a bachelor's degree in tourism with the courses to be taught at the University of Southern Mississippi beginning next fall.

"The program, which will be a bachelor's of science in business administration, will focus on casino and resort management and restaurant management.

"Casino and resort management courses will be offered in Long Beach, and restaurant and hotel management courses will be taught in Hattiesburg.

"…The board and university officials were concerned that USM was losing students to Tulane's campus in Biloxi, which in January began offering a two-year associate's degree in casino management…"
