Mississippi anti-casino group sues for records16 February 2007BILOXI , Mississippi – As reported by the Biloxi Sun Herald: "Coast Businesses for Fair Play is suing the U.S. Department of Interior because it contends the federal agency has not complied with public-records requests about a proposed Choctaw casino in Jackson County. "Coast Businesses, an organization supported by commercially operated casinos, opposes the proposed tribal casino because it would not be taxed or state regulated and need not be near the water. Its location near Interstate 10 would make it the first casino for gamblers driving in from Florida, Alabama and other eastern markets. "…Coast Businesses wants to see all correspondence and other records between the Choctaws and the Bureau of Indian Affairs, which is a subagency of the Interior Department. "The Interior Department is being defended by Stephen Graben, an assistant U.S. Attorney based in Gulfport. In court papers, Graben contends that Coast Businesses has failed to exhaust administrative remedies under the Freedom of Information Act and that the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi does not have jurisdiction.
