Miss America Organization relocating to Mohegan Sun25 November 2019(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Miss America Organization is making history this year, relocating the historic competition to the world-renowned Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. Applications for media credentials are now being taken and are due 4 December 2019. This is the second year of Miss America 2.0 where the 51 young women compete for the job of Miss America 2020. No longer judging on physical beauty, during the week of 12-19 December, they will prove why they should be the candidate selected to spend the year advancing her chosen social impact initiative at a national level. Nia Franklin, who has held the job this last year as Miss America 2019, used her year to bring attention to the importance of bringing the arts to disadvantaged youth. The candidate's official arrival is on 12 December at 5 PM ET and is free and open to the public. Preliminary competitions take place 15 and 16 December at 7 PM ET in Earth Expo at Mohegan Sun. Credentialed press will be given seats. A brand show format will result in the selection of one woman for the job of Miss America 2020 live on NBC from Mohegan Sun Arena on 19 December at 8 PM. Credentialed press will be given seats. |
