Minnesota Gambling Bill Pulled

MINNESOTA – As reported by the Minnesota Star Tribune: "The author of one of the gambling bills being heard in the Legislature pulled his measure before a key committee vote on Tuesday but still pledged to get the bill -- designed to help two northern Minnesota Indian tribes -- to the House floor.

"The bill would allow the two tribes to operate a metro-area casino to take advantage of the more lucrative gambling market and return some of the money to the state.

"Before the bill was to be heard in the Ways and Means Committee on Tuesday afternoon, Rep. Bill Haas, R-Champlin, pulled it from the agenda.

"…The measure would authorize the state lottery to operate slots in the metro area at a casino run by the Red Lake and White Earth bands of Chippewa…"
