Middleboro residents overreact to casino plans

MIDDLEBORO, Massachusetts – As reported by the South of Boston Enterprise: "Town Manager John F. Healey said the public has overreacted to the board's decision last week to contact the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe about locating a casino in Middleboro.

"…Healey told selectmen that following last week's meeting, he contacted the Wampanoags and was waiting to hear back from the tribe.

"…Last week, at the suggestion of Healey, selectmen voted unanimously to have the town manager contact the Wampanoags to see if they would be interested in 200 acres of town-owned land for a casino. The tribe is interested in building a casino in Southeastern Massachusetts…"
