Mid-States Poker Tour and Venetian combine for $300,000 “Poker Bowl” in Las Vegas2 January 2017(PRESS RELEASE) -- Leading up to this year’s Super Bowl LI, the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) and The Venetian Las Vegas will combine forces to host the first annual “Poker Bowl.” The $1,100 buy-in tournament will run from 2-4 February 2017 and feature a $300,000 guarantee. There will be two starting flights — at 12 p.m. Pacific time on Thursday, 2 February and Friday, 3 February — and then return on Saturday, 4 February to play down to a winner. That means players are guaranteed to have Sunday free to watch this year’s Super Bowl. The “Poker Bowl” will mark the first time the MSPT has visited The Venetian outside of the summer months. In June 2016, the venue played host to the largest MSPT in history as 2,887 entrants took to the felt. Thomas Boivin emerged victorious in that event to win $352,153, the largest prize ever awarded on the MSPT. Other past winners of the MSPT Venetian include Angelina Rich, who defeated 1,964 runners in 2015 to win $215,815, and Drake Bronk, who topped a field of 854 entrants to win 2014’s inaugural event for $163,870. The first “Poker Bowl” is a part of the Venetian’s Deepstack Extravaganza, which will offer over $2.5 million in guaranteed prize pools from 30 January – 27 February. In addition, we can reveal that the MSPT will once again return to The Venetian in June for a summer event with exact dates to be determined. “We are excited to partner with the MSPT for two events in 2017 starting 2-4 February with DeepStack Extravaganza I and then again in June during DeepStack Extravaganza III,” said The Venetian poker room manager Tommy LaRosa. “These are sure to be can't-miss events on the poker calendar with some of the largest fields and prize pools of the year.” |
