Michigan Voters Support Limited Gambling Expansion

MICHIGAN – As reported by the Detroit Free Press: "Michigan voters appear to be standing firm in support of limits on the expansion of gambling.

"…Those are the findings of a new poll released Monday by EPIC/MRA of Lansing about support for two proposed constitutional amendments that will appear on the state ballot Nov. 2.

"The poll of 610 likely voters found that support for Proposal 1, the gambling-limits measure supported by Detroit and Indian casino interests, ahead 62 percent to 26 percent, with 11 percent undecided. That was virtually unchanged from a survey in August.

"…Opponents of the gambling initiative -- which would require statewide and local votes for the expansion of any new non-Indian games -- said they're not discouraged by the overwhelming support shown in the polls…"
