Michigan tribe expects to win land battle

WAYLAND TOWNSHIP, Michigan – As reported by the Grand Rapids Press: "D.K. Sprague gave fellow worshippers at the Bradley Indian Mission on Sunday some good news.

"The tribal chairman for the Gun Lake Band of Pottawatomi Indians let church members know the tribe's battle to win the right to construct a gaming facility on 145 acres near U.S. 131 could soon be over.

"Unless a federal judge in Washington, D.C., issues an injunction by 5 p.m. today, the land will go into a trust that will award the tribe a federally recognized homeland.

"Soon after that, construction could begin on a more than $200 million casino…"
