Michigan Tribal Casino Gets Local Support

ALLEGAN, Michigan – As reported by the Gazette: "The city of Allegan will enter a lawsuit in an effort to speed up the construction of a proposed Wayland-area casino.

"The city council Monday unanimously voted to enter the case of Michigan Gambling Opposition (MichGO) vs. the Match-e-be-nash-she-wish Band of Potawatomi Indians. The band is planning the casino.

"The council approved filing an amicus curiae brief -- a friendly statement -- on behalf of the tribe.

"Allegan Mayor Mike Morton said the tribe had asked the city join the suit…"
