Michigan Tribal Casino Construction Resumes

MICHIGAN – As reported by the Petoskey News-Review: "The Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians announced today that construction of the new casino project is under way.

"'I am really pleased we are at this stage and progression with this new facility. We believe this new facility will complement the existing high quality resort amenities here in the Little Traverse region,' tribal chairman Frank Ettawageshik said.

"The earthwork was mostly completed in the fall of 2005 and concrete work will now begin within a few days. The work is continuing after the successful completion of a $122 million construction bond issue last Friday.

"Work on the new facility had come to a halt earlier because of the onset of winter, some financing issues and a 'continual redesign' of the project…"
