Michigan reports May iGaming and sports betting revenue19 June 2024(PRESS RELEASE) -- Michigan commercial and tribal operators reported a combined $239.5 million total internet gaming gross receipts and gross sports betting receipts in May. Gross receipts increased 2.0% compared to last month. Monthly Gross Receipts May iGaming gross receipts totaled $198.6 million and gross sports betting receipts totaled $40.9 million. In April, gross sports betting receipts were $192.9 million and gross sports betting receipts were $41.9 million. Monthly Adjusted Gross Receipts Combined total iGaming and internet sports betting adjusted gross receipts for May were $206.8 million, including $178.7 million from iGaming and $28.1 million from internet sports betting — representing an iGaming increase of 2.6% and a sports betting increase of 1.2% when compared to last month. Compared to a year ago, in May 2023, iGaming AGR was up by 31.9% and sports betting was up by 27.7%. Monthly Handle Total May internet sports betting handle at $343.7 million was down by 13.9% from the $399.1 million handle recorded in April 2024. Monthly State Taxes/Payments The operators reported submitting $38.8 million in taxes and payments to the State of Michigan during May, of which: - iGaming taxes and fees = $37.0 million - Internet sports betting taxes and fees = $1.8 million Monthly City of Detroit Taxes/Payments The three Detroit casinos reported paying the City of Detroit $10.1 million in wagering taxes and municipal services fees during May, of which: - iGaming taxes and fees = $9.4 million - Internet sports betting taxes and fees = $665,117 Monthly Tribal Operators’ Payments Tribal operators reported making $4.5 million in payments to governing bodies in May.
