Michigan Group Fights Against Proposed Casino

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan – As reported by the WXMI-TV: "A Grand Rapids attorney may be taking a case to the highest court in the country. His question: Has Congress already given the states power over Indian casinos?

"It's a case that's been rolling for several years. So, must states legislatively approve tribal casino compacts?

"The Michigan Court of Appeals and State Supreme Court ruled no.

"But Taxpayers Of Michigan Against Casinos (TOMAC), says the courts misinterpreted the law. The grassroots group is currently fighting against a proposed casino in New Buffalo.

"…Last week, voters in Michigan approved Proposal One, requiring a public vote for non-tribal casino gambling in Michigan…"
