Michigan Casino Proposal Threatened by Possible Lawsuit

MICHIGAN – As reported by the WOOD TV8: "Supporters of a proposed casino in Allegan County say they are ready to break ground this summer if opponents don't sue the federal government to stop the project. A lawsuit is something that seems quite likely at this point.

"The Gun Lake Band of Potawatomi Indians wants to build the casino at the site of former AMPRO warehouse in Wayland Township.

"…Tribal leaders say the casino could bring as many as 5,000 jobs to the area.

"But there are other hurdles, namely an expected lawsuit brought by opponents.

"Supporters say they are optimistic they can beat that lawsuit…"
