MGM Mirage Plans Online Sports Betting Site Based in UK9 January 2002LAS VEGAS -- Jan. 8, 2001 -- As reported by VU Net: ``The world's second largest gambling company is set to enter the UK market in the coming months with the launch of an online betting business. ``MGM Mirage, which owns 20 casinos including the MGM Grand and Treasure Island establishments on the Las Vegas Strip, is to apply for a licence to operate the business next month with a view to getting the site up and running before this summer's World Cup in Japan and South Korea. ``The company said that it had shelved plans to operate in partnership with other UK bookies, opting instead to run the business as a wholly owned subsidiary.
