Mexico gaming fair increases exhibition space

30 April 2007

MONTERREY, Mexico -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Since the forthcoming ELA-2008 Fair to be held in Monterrey, Mexico, was announced at the ICE London Fair, the area reserved for exhibitors has doubled in one month.

With still over a year to go before May 2008, sales of stands for gaming material manufacturers have exceeded the organisers' most optimistic expectations.

According to Ramiro Carvajales, operations manager for the Latin-American Gaming Fair (ELA), "We have doubled from an initially scheduled 3,000 m.2 to 6,000 m2 in just one month.

One very important characteristic of this fair is that we are receiving a lot of applications for larger stands, compared to other Latin-American fairs. Mexico is an emerging market, a big market, and exhibitors want to show all these new clients that they are the best. We believe our Latin-American fair will follow the traditional pattern laid down by Las Vegas, London and Buenos Aires: large, attractive stands showcasing a wide range of products".

Another important aspect of the Monterrey fair is that it will centre on attracting capturing clients from the Andean, Central American and Caribbean regions.

The organisers have their sights on markets in Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama, particularly as the Panama fair will not be held in 2008.

The Puerto Rico fair has also suffered important losses in exhibitor and visitor numbers. Accordingly, ELA-2008 hopes to reach operators and buyers from the Dominican Republic and other Caribbean countries and the hundreds of islands in the region, including St Maarten, Guadalupe, St Croix, the Virgin Islands, the Bahamas, Antigua, etc.

With regard the Andean area, according to Ramiro Carvajales, "In a few short days, we have received many requests for information on ELA-2008 from Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, as well as Surinam and Guyana.

In other words, in addition to the Mexican market, our Monterrey Fair will concentrate on making and establishing clients in Central America, the Andes and the Caribbean."
