Menominee launch new campaign

WISCONSIN -- As reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: "With the odds of the Menominee tribe winning federal approval for a Kenosha casino growing longer by the day, the tribe Monday launched a new offensive attacking its main opponent, the Potawatomi tribe.

"During a news conference Monday in the shadow of the Potawatomi's lucrative Milwaukee casino, Menominee officials unveiled 'Casino Competition for Wisconsin.' Racine County Executive William McReynolds and Kenosha County Executive Allan Kehl attended.

"The campaign, which is being played out in newspaper ads and on a new Internet site, www.casinocompetitionforwisconsin.com, is an answer to the Potawatomi television ads attacking the Kenosha deal in general and the Mohegan tribe of Connecticut in particular. The casino-rich Mohegans are the financial muscle and partners in the Menominee's efforts to build an $800 million casino complex.

"...Menominee Chair Lisa Waukau said the effort is being launched now because 'we're getting tired of getting beat up by the Potawatomi.'..."
