Megabucks Winner Claims Prize

AUGUSTA, Maine – As reported by the Portland Press Herald: "The holder of an $8.45 million Megabucks ticket sold at D & L Country Store in Oakland has claimed the winnings, but the winner's identity remained a mystery Monday. The largest Megabucks jackpot in five years will be released to the winner Friday, Maine State Lottery Director Dan Gwadosky said. The winner lives in the Oakland area and seems to be taking great care in claiming the prize, he said.

"'My sense is that this individual has spent some time getting some financial counsel,' Gwadosky said.

"…The lottery director said the person might never be identified. To receive the money anonymously, the winner could ask an attorney to accept it into a trust fund…"
