Mega Millions Rises to $42 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Summer is here and Mega Millions is hot! When Tuesday's winning numbers were drawn, they turned 303,309 tickets into Mega Millions winners, including 2 tickets that each won $175,000 and 14 tickets that each won $5,000. The winning numbers in Tuesday's drawing were 09-13-40-46-50 and the Mega Ball number was 30.

Now that jackpot is growing and so is the number of states in which Mega Millions is played! Since no ticket matched all six numbers in Tuesday's drawing, the jackpot grows to an estimated $42 million for the Friday, June 24, 2005 drawing. And for the first time, Mega Millions is being played in California.

The two tickets that won $175,000 in Tuesday's drawing came within a heartbeat of winning the jackpot. They matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in Georgia and New York.

Mega Millions players won nearly $1.75 million in Tuesday's drawing.

As of today, June 22, 2005, Mega Millions is played in California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
