Mega Millions Reaches $86 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Everything is getting bigger in Mega Millions: the jackpot, the number of winners, and above all, the excitement. With nine different ways to win, more than 460,000 tickets were winners in Friday's drawing. That includes 7 tickets that each won $175,000 and 37 tickets that each won $5,000. No ticket managed to match all six numbers, so the jackpot for the Tuesday, September 28, 2004 drawing grows to an estimated $86 million.

The winning numbers in the Friday, September 24 drawing were: 11-26-30-49-50 and the Mega Ball number was 52.

The seven tickets that won Mega Millions' second highest prize of $175,000 came within a heartbeat of hitting the jackpot. Each matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number. Three of those tickets were sold in New Jersey; two in Virginia and one each in Illinois and Massachusetts.

Mega Millions players won a total of $3,522,580 in Friday's drawing.

Mega Millions is played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
