Mega Millions Reaches $42 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Although no one won the jackpot of $32 million last night, Mega Millions players across the country are still winning prizes. Friday's Mega Millions drawing produced more than 475,000 winning tickets from coast to coast. Since no ticket matched all six numbers to win the estimated $32 million jackpot, the jackpot for the Tuesday, October 4, 2005 drawing grows to an estimated $42 million.

Six tickets came within just one number of hitting the jackpot. Each matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were sold in California (1), Georgia (1), New Jersey (1), and New York (3). Each of those tickets wins $250,000, except in California, where prizes are pari-mutuel by state law.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
