Mega Millions Jackpot Rises to $84 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The jackpot in Mega Millions is growing -- and there is no shortage of winners! A total of 526,622 tickets from coast to coast won prizes in the Friday, August 19, 2005 drawing. Since no ticket matched all six numbers to take home the jackpot, that jackpot grows to an estimated $84 million for the Tuesday, August 23, 2005 drawing.

Five tickets came extremely close to hitting the jackpot. They did so by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in Illinois (1), Maryland (1), Michigan (1) and Ohio (2).

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
