Mega Millions jackpot rises to $54 million

UNITED STATES –- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The excitement level is growing in Mega Millions and so is the number of winners. In Friday's Mega Millions drawing, a total of 436,720 tickets won prizes. But no ticket matched all six numbers to win the $43 million jackpot. So the estimated jackpot for the Tuesday, January 30, 2007 drawing grows to $54 million.

The winning numbers in Friday's drawing were: 16-17-36-49-54 and the Mega Ball number was 14.

One ticket came within a heartbeat of hitting the jackpot. That ticket, which was purchased in New York, won $250,000 by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
