Mega Millions Jackpot Rises to $53 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Mega Millions players across the country are feeling the excitement as the jackpot continues to grow. When Tuesday's winning numbers were drawn, they turned 342,708 tickets into Mega Millions winners. Each of those tickets matched one of Mega Millions' lower prize levels. That includes six tickets that each won $175,000 and 26 tickets that each won $5,000. Since no ticket matched all six numbers, the jackpot grows to an estimated $53 million for the Friday, March 25, 2005 drawing.

Tuesday's winning numbers were: 06-11-27-37-43 and the Mega Ball number was 34.

Those six Mega Millions tickets that each won $175,000 did so by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were sold in Georgia, Illinois, New York, Ohio and Virginia (2). Mega Millions is played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Officials in California have announced plans to join the fun later this year. Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time, and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
