Mega Millions Jackpot Rises to $27 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- No ticket matched all six numbers in Friday's Mega Millions drawing, so the estimated jackpot for the Tuesday, March 15, 2005 drawing climbs to $27 million. Players throughout the 11 participating states won a total of $2,450,249 in Friday's drawing. There were 332,005 tickets that won prizes ranging from $2 up to $175,000.

The winning numbers in the Friday, March 11, 2005 drawing were: 18-19-31-35-36 and the Mega Ball number was 17.

Five tickets came close to winning the jackpot in Friday's drawing. Each of these tickets matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number to win $175,000. The five tickets were sold in Maryland (1), New York (1), Texas (1), Virginia (1) and Washington (1). There were also 23 tickets that matched four numbers plus the Mega Ball number to each win $5,000.

Mega Millions is played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Officials in California have announced plans to join the fun later this year. Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
