Mega Millions Jackpot Rises to $111 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Friday, August 26 Mega Millions drawing really brought out the winners! A total of 639,228 tickets from coast to coast won Mega Millions prizes, including four tickets that came within just one number of hitting the jackpot. Since no ticket matched all six numbers to win the estimated $97 million jackpot, the jackpot for the Tuesday, August 30, 2005 drawing climbs to an estimated $111 million.

The winning numbers in Friday's drawing were: 05-20-38-47-54 and the Mega Ball number was 35.

The four tickets that nearly won the jackpot did so by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in California, Michigan, Ohio and Texas.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
