Mega Millions Jackpot Rises to $100 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Mega Millions players coast to coast are feeling the excitement as the jackpot continues to climb. When Friday's winning numbers were drawn, they turned 630,163 tickets into Mega Millions winners. Since no ticket matched all six numbers to win the estimated $88 million jackpot, the jackpot grows to an estimated $100 million for the Tuesday, July 12, 2005 drawing.

Nine tickets came within just one number of hitting the jackpot by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were sold in California (1), Illinois (1), Maryland (1), New York (5) and Ohio (1). Each of those tickets wins $250,000, except in California, where prizes are pari-mutuel by state law.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
