Mega Millions jackpot rises

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- It may be cold outside, but Mega Millions is hot! Players in the 12 Mega Millions states won big in the Friday, December 15, 2006 drawing, as a total of 386,129 tickets won prizes. There was no jackpot winner, so the jackpot is on the move and estimated at $40 million for the Tuesday, December 19, 2006 drawing.

The winning numbers in Friday's drawing were: 06-07-17-28-40 and the Mega Ball number was 39.

Four tickets each won $250,000 in Friday's drawing. Each matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Virginia.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
