Mega Millions Jackpot Rises

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Excitement is building everywhere Mega Millions is played. The jackpot is building too. A total of 324,876 tickets were winners in the Tuesday, March 15 Mega Millions drawing. That includes 5 tickets that each won $175,000 and 23 tickets that each won $5,000. But no ticket matched all six numbers to win the jackpot. So the jackpot for the Friday, March 18, 2005 drawing grows to an estimated $36 million.

The winning numbers in Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing were 14-26-27-34-44 and the Mega Ball Number was 27.

Those five tickets that each won $175,000 did so by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were sold in Illinois (2), New York (2) and Virginia (1).

Mega Millions players won nearly $2.5 million in Tuesday's drawing.

Mega Millions is played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Officials in California have announced plans to join the fun later this year.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
