Mega Millions Jackpot Reaches $67 Million

UNITED STATES –- (PRESS RELEASE)-- 2005 is here, and Mega Millions is starting the new year with the same excitement and large number of winners that marked 2004. The New Years Eve Mega Millions drawing produced more than 440,000 winning tickets. That includes seven tickets that each won $175,000 and 31 tickets that each won $5,000. Since no ticket matched all six numbers in Friday's drawing, the jackpot grows to an estimated $67 million for the Tuesday, January 4, 2005 drawing.

The winning numbers in the Friday, December 31, 2004 drawing were 10-14- 45-47-51 and the Mega Ball number was 20.

Those seven tickets that each won $175,000 matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number. Two of those tickets were sold in New Jersey and the rest in Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, New York and Ohio.

Mega Millions players won a total of $3,326,418 in Friday's drawing.

Mega Millions is played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time, and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
