Mega Millions Jackpot Reaches $165 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Mega Millions excitement is growing along with the jackpot - and players are lining up for a piece of the action. Nearly 890,000 tickets were winners in the Friday, October 28 Mega Millions drawing. That includes seven tickets that each won $250,000. Since no ticket matched all six numbers to win the estimated $147 million jackpot, the jackpot for the Tuesday, November 1, 2005 drawing grows to an estimated $165 million.

The winning numbers in Friday's drawing were: 08-17-25-28-53 and the Mega Ball number was 01.

The seven tickets that each won $250,000 did so by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Three of those tickets were purchased in New York and two each in Michigan and Texas.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
