Mega Millions Jackpot is Still Growing

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Mega Millions players from coast to coast are feeling the excitement as the jackpot continues to grow. When Tuesday's winning numbers were drawn, they turned 836,022 tickets into Mega Millions winners, including eight tickets that came within one number of hitting the jackpot. Since no ticket matched all six numbers in Tuesday's drawing, the jackpot grows to an estimated $145 million for the Friday, February 17, 2006 drawing.

The winning numbers in Tuesday's drawing were: 27-36-43-49-54 and the Mega Ball number was 33.

The eight tickets that were just shy of winning the jackpot did so by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in California (1), New Jersey (1), New York (3), Ohio (2) and Texas (1).

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
