Mega Millions Jackpot Grows to $70 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Players are feeling the excitement as the jackpot continues to grow. When Friday's winning numbers were drawn, they turned 449,631 tickets into Mega Millions winners. That includes five tickets that each won $175,000 and 47 tickets that each won $5,000. However, no ticket matched all six numbers to win the Mega Millions jackpot. That means the jackpot for the Tuesday, May 24, 2005 Mega Millions drawing grows to an estimated $70 million.

The winning numbers in Friday's drawing were: 03-06-27-40-44 and the Mega Ball number was 09.

The five tickets that won Mega Millions' second highest prize of $175,000 matched the first five Mega Millions numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were sold in Michigan (3), New York and Texas.

Mega Millions is played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Officials in California have announced plans to join the fun later this year.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
