Mega Millions jackpot grows to $40 million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Countless Mega Millions players from coast to coast had their eyes on the prize in the Tuesday, November 28, 2006 drawing. A total of 439,899 tickets won prizes, including three tickets that each won $250,000. No ticket matched all six numbers to win Tuesday's jackpot, so the jackpot for the Friday, December 1, 2006 Mega Millions drawing grows to an estimated $40 million.

The winning numbers in Tuesday's drawing were: 07-14-24-41-56 and the Mega Ball number was 07.

Pari-mutuel prizes means that prize amounts vary with the number of tickets sold and the number of winning tickets in each prize category.

The three tickets that each won $250,000 did so by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
