Mega Millions Jackpot Grows to $31 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Mega Millions players from coast to coast are feeling the excitement as the jackpot continues to grow. When Friday's winning numbers were drawn, they turned 298,914 tickets into Mega Millions winners. Now that jackpot is growing! Since no ticket matched all six numbers in Friday's drawing, the jackpot grows to an estimated $31 million for the Tuesday, December 21, 2004 drawing.

One Mega Millions ticket won $175,000 in Friday's drawing for matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. That ticket was purchased in Michigan. In addition, 22 tickets each won $5,000 for matching four numbers plus the Mega Ball. The winning numbers in the Friday, December 17, 2004 drawing were 16-34- 38-42-47 and the Mega Ball number was 01.

Mega Millions is played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time, and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
