Mega Millions Grows to $80 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Mega Millions players are feeling the excitement as the jackpot continues to grow. When Tuesday's winning numbers were drawn, they turned 461,670 tickets into Mega Millions winners. Each of those tickets matched one of Mega Millions' nine prize levels. Since no ticket matched all six numbers, the jackpot grows to an estimated $80 million for the Friday, May 27, 2005 drawing.

Six Mega Millions tickets won $175,000 in Tuesday's drawing for matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were sold in Maryland (2), New York (1), Texas (2) and Virginia (1). In addition, 39 tickets won $5,000 each for matching four numbers plus the Mega Ball.

Tuesday's winning numbers were: 09-28-39-40-45 and the Mega Ball number was 24.

Mega Millions players won more than $3.2 million in Tuesday's drawing.

Mega Millions is played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Officials in California have announced plans to join the fun later this year.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
