Mega Millions Grows to $44 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The jackpot in Mega Millions is growing - and there is no shortage of winners! A total of 362,110 tickets from coast to coast won prizes in the Friday, March 18, 2005 drawing. That includes one ticket that won $175,000 and 29 tickets that each won $5,000. Since no ticket matched all six numbers, the jackpot for the Tuesday, March 22, 2005 Mega Millions drawing grows to an estimated $44 million.

The winning numbers in Friday's drawing were: 02-09-28-29-48 and the Mega Ball number was 33.

The ticket that won Mega Millions' second highest prize of $175,000 came within just one number of winning it all. It matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number. That ticket was sold in Ohio.

Mega Millions players won more than $2 million in Friday's drawing. Here is a breakdown of the winning tickets:

Mega Millions is played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Officials in California have announced plans to join the fun later this year.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
