Mega Millions grows to $16 million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Mega Millions jackpot is on the move once again. Less than a week after a single ticket sold in Amarillo, Texas won an estimated $122 million jackpot, Mega Millions excitement is building. A total of 403,255 tickets from coast to coast were winners in the Friday, January 12, 2007 drawing, including four tickets that only missed the Mega Ball number. Since no ticket matched all six numbers, the jackpot for the Tuesday, January 16, 2007 Mega Millions drawing grows to an estimated $16 million.

The winning numbers in Friday's drawing were: 12-14-26-40-42 and the Mega Ball number was 22.

Pari-mutuel prizes means that prize amounts vary with the number of tickets sold and the number of winning tickets in each prize category.

Those four tickets that matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number were purchased in California, Illinois, Massachusetts and Virginia.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
